The object of this act to provide payment of equal remuneration to men and women workers and for the prevention of discrimination on the basis of sex, against women in the matter of employment.
No employer should pay remuneration lesser than the rates payable to men workers for performing same work or work of a similar nature. No employer should reduce the ratio of remuneration. A register in Form D to be maintained with category wise employment details of men and women with ratio of remuneration.
The penal provision of non-compliance by employer is simple imprisonment upto one month or fine as per Sec.10 of the Act.
